Gratitude as a survival tactic
/Cultivating gratitude is a survival tactic during COVID-19.
Research demonstrates that gratitude correlates to improved relationships and mental health (which we all need right now!).
And gratitude is going to be one of the first things to go when you are stressed out. I’ve had to work at this. Because there is a lot of overwhelm and irritation in the mix.
Lately, I’ve been marinating in a book called “Every Moment Holy”. There are liturgies of intention for everything from a warm shower to a tree swaying to a child fussing.
When I pause, breathe, and practice thanks, I feel myself become more settled, grounded, and prepared for the next onslaught of homework questions, emails, and Zoom calls.
And I’m especially grateful to fill up for $0.99 cents a gallon (thanks for the fuel points, Kroger!).
What are you grateful for today?
